Terms of service
The agreement between you and Ryra, run by Erlend Ravn Ryan, covering the ryra apps and the ryra service. Plain words, and they mean what they say.
1. Accepting these terms
You accept these terms when you create a ryra account. If you are doing that for an employer, you are confirming you may agree on their behalf. If you do not accept them, do not create an account: the apps cannot do anything useful without one.
2. The software
The ryra apps, for the terminal, the desktop and phones, are licensed to you, not sold. You may install and run them on machines you use, for as long as your account is in good standing. You may not sell, rent or redistribute them, remove their notices, or take them apart to build a competing product. Where an app ships under an open-source licence, that licence governs it and says so in the app.
3. Your account
Your keys are made on your own devices and we never hold one that can open your data. That is the point of the design, and it puts one thing squarely on you: keep your recovery phrase somewhere you will still have it. If you lose every device and the phrase, your data is gone, and no support request can change that.
You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for telling us promptly if you think somebody else has got into it.
4. Your machines, your commands
Ryra connects to servers you point it at and runs what you tell it to run there, including through AI agents acting on your instructions. Which machines you connect, what runs on them, and what an agent does while it is there are yours: yours to decide, yours to review, and yours to answer for. We do not review or supervise any of it.
Do not use ryra to break the law, to attack anybody, to send bulk unsolicited mail, or to run something you have no right to run on infrastructure you have no right to use. We can suspend an account we have good reason to believe is doing one of those.
5. Plans, limits and what they cost
An organization may have up to three machines at no charge. That counts every machine the organization declares, whether ryra bought it for you or you brought your own: the limit is on what the control plane looks after, not on who paid the hosting bill, because looking after a machine is the same work either way. Going past three needs a paid plan.
We also charge for storage beyond what a plan includes, and for machines bought through ryra. Current prices, included amounts and billing periods are the ones shown at checkout and in your account. Fees are payable in advance, and taxes are on top where they apply.
A trial, where one is offered, runs for the stated period and then ends. If you gave us a payment method it becomes a paid plan unless you cancel first, and we will say so before it happens rather than after.
6. What running out of plan does
We hold the credentials your machines run on, so a billing problem must never become an outage. If a plan lapses, three things keep working without exception: reading anything your organization already holds, removing people and revoking their access, and leaving, including deleting the organization and changing how you sign in. Cancelling never requires paying first, and an expired card never locks somebody out at three in the morning.
What a lapse stops is growth: adding members, adding keyrings, adding grants, adding machines. The organization keeps running exactly as it is.
7. Machines you buy through ryra
When you buy a machine through ryra we order it from the provider on your behalf and bill you for it, along with our fee. The provider's own terms apply to the machine itself. The machine runs, and costs money, until it is destroyed, so a machine you no longer want is one to remove rather than one to stop using.
Sometimes a provider creates a server and the confirmation never reaches us. When that happens the app tells you, by name, that something exists which we could not record, because a server nobody can find is a server somebody is still paying for. Check your provider account when you see that message, and get in touch if it does not add up: we will not charge you our fee for a machine you never got the use of.
8. Email from us
With an account you will get the mail the service is made of: sign-in codes, invitations, billing and security notices. We may also send occasional product announcements, and every one of those has a one-click unsubscribe. See the privacy policy for what we do with your address.
9. Ending it
You can delete your account whenever you like, from inside the app, and you can take everything with you first: ryra exports your keys and your data, and nothing is left behind in a service that has to still exist for your export to be worth anything.
We can end your access if you break these terms, or with reasonable notice if we stop offering the service, in which case we refund the unused part of anything you paid in advance.
10. No warranty
Ryra is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of faults.
11. Liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, nor for lost profits, lost data or lost use. Where we are liable, it is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited, and if you are a consumer your statutory rights are untouched.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters to you we will email account holders before it takes effect, and continuing to use ryra afterwards is how you accept it. If you would rather not, delete your account and we will refund the unused part of anything paid in advance.
13. Law, and reaching us
These terms are governed by Norwegian law, and the courts of Norway have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the law where you live.
